Biography

Dr. Tracy Batchelor is a neurologist and neuro-oncologist who serves as Chair of the Department of Neurology for Mass General Brigham and as Neurologist-in-Chief at both Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. He is the Martin A. Samuels Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and Co-Leader of the Neuro-Oncology Program in the Harvard Cancer Center Consortium. From 2018 to 2025 he served as Neurologist-in-Chief and Chair of Neurology at the Brigham, and he earlier led neuro-oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital as Executive Director of the Pappas Center for Neuro-Oncology, Chief of the Division of Neuro-Oncology, and Associate Clinical Director of the Cancer Center.

His research focuses on experimental therapeutics for gliomas and primary central nervous system lymphoma, with more than 300 peer-reviewed publications, and he is principal investigator on three active National Cancer Institute grants, including a P50/SPORE award, a U19 glioblastoma therapeutics award, and a T32 training grant in cancer neuroscience. He is the immediate past chair of the NCI Brain Malignancies Steering Committee and a past president of the Society for Neuro-Oncology, and has held multiple elected leadership positions in that society and the American Academy of Neurology. This is Dr. Batchelor’s 25th consecutive year of funding from the NCI as a principal investigator

His work has been recognized with the Society for Neuro-Oncology’s 2025 Victor Levin Award and with mentorship and leadership honors from Mass General Brigham, the American Academy of Neurology, and the Society for Neuro-Oncology. Dr. Batchelor brings experience in academic department leadership, clinical and translational research, national scientific governance, and faculty mentorship.
