Biography

Dr. Fatima Cody Stanford is a nationally recognized physician leader, board director, and executive with more than 20 years of experience spanning medicine, governance, strategy, and communications. She is widely regarded as one of the nation’s foremost experts in obesity medicine and health equity, providing trusted insight to Capitol Hill, federal agencies, Fortune 500 companies, and global industry partners.

Dr. Stanford brings extensive governance experience, serving as an Independent Board Member for Eolo Pharma and previously on the boards of The Obesity Society, the American Heart Association (Boston), and the South Carolina Medical Association. She also served as vice-chair of the Board for Common Threads. Her national and international advisory work spans Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk, Amgen, Pfizer, AbbVie, AstraZeneca, Doximity, Clearmind Medicine, MelliCell, Apnimed, and L’Oreal, where her guidance shapes innovation, corporate strategy, and organizational growth. Notably, her counsel at Doximity helped inform strategic goals that contributed to its successful IPO on the NYSE.

She also provides strategic insight to major consumer brands—including Chick-fil-A, Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch, Walgreens, and U.S. News & World Report—on culture and strategy related to obesity, wellness, and public health. She played a critical role in raising $200 million for Calibrate, enabling it to launch the first independent direct-to-consumer obesity platform. At Amazon, she developed the company’s first clinical trial validating body composition using visual-based capture, supporting the rollout of Amazon Halo.

Academically, Dr. Stanford serves as an Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. She is the Director of Enrichment and Engagement for the Endocrine Division and Director of Scholarly Engagement and Mentoring for the Boston Area Nutrition Obesity Research Center. She was a member of the 2025 U.S. Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee and the International Lancet Commission on Obesity.
